About CKM

Definition/Introduction – Krav Maga in Hebrew means ‘contact combat’ or ‘contact fighting’ and the term is generic in the same sense that the term ‘self-defense’ is. There are many systems/styles of Krav Maga including Commando Krav Maga. Commando Krav Maga, also referred to as CKM, is the system of ‘contact fighting’ created by Moni Aizik. It has recently been modified and released to the civilian sector. Evolution – Since its conception, CKM has and continues to evolve in order to deal with modern threats. “Reality Not Sport” – There are no tournaments in CKM. It is a reality-based system of self defense meant for survival. As such, there are no rules or regulations for CKM tactics. It is based on principles similar to guerilla warfare – engage the enemy quickly, create as much damage as possible in a short period of time and disengage immediately. Techniques include eye gouges, groin strikes, biting, striking the throat and other effective tactics. “Training” – We train under realistic situations that you would encounter in the street. Training includes dealing with surprise attacks, multiple attackers and attackers with weapons, ground survival, and strikers. The pressure test is a live action drill we use in CKM to simulate realistic street confrontations. “Simplicity is Genius” – CKM is based on simple and reflexive moves. It has been proven that under extreme stress, any movement that involves more than 2 gross motor skills most likely won’t work. As well, it is very hard to remember any technique that involves more than 5 or 6 components. That’s why the techniques in CKM are designed to be simple and effective. More importantly, many of the techniques are universal so they can be performed regardless of the direction of the attack. “Benefits” – Better yourself both mentally and physically. Improve your confidence and your level of conditioning.
